Our Mission
To provide information and access to opportunities for Osborn residents and our neighbors across the City of Detroit. We do this through Business Development, Housing and Neighborhood Development, and Community initiatives around infrastructure, access, youth programming, bridging the digital divide, and building strong partnerships. We seek out and engage in opportunities to improve quality of life in our community.
Our Vision
Our vision for 2026 is aspirational. How we get there will change as we flex and respond to changes in our community, as we have always done. Rooted in our updated mission that better reflects our work, we will pursue opportunities that improve well-being for the people in our community. In 2023, we created organizational values and strategic pillars to drive our work and be a lens through which we evaluate opportunities to advance our mission. This document sets out a framework for how we will create the neighborhood we imagine through these strategic priorities:
1. Business Development
2. Housing and Neighborhood Development
3. Community: Infrastructure, access, youth engagement, partnerships, the HUB
4. Internal Operations: staffing, fundraising, culture
Our History
The Osborn Neighborhood Alliance (ONA) was established in 2010 with support from the Skillman Foundation's Good Neighborhoods Initiative. ONA serves as the voice of the Osborn community, focusing on advocacy, planning, and facilitation. Trusted and respected by community residents, ONA is recognized as a premier knowledge broker in the area. The organization has been led by Quincy Jones, its Executive Director, for over 14 years. In 2015, ONA expanded its impact by launching the Osborn Business Association (OBA) to support and strengthen local businesses in the neighborhood. In 2022, the organization began addressing technological inequity through its Digital Divide efforts, working to increase internet access and digital literacy in the community.

We provide training, technical assistance, and shared resources to help local organizations grow. We activate block clubs, support leaders in navigating city systems, and ensure community partners stay aligned and connected.

The Osborn Business Association (OBA) is the small business development arm of the Osborn Neighborhood Alliance — and at its heart, a village. Rooted in the tradition of mutual aid, OBA operates on a simple truth: we rise together. Members are not just participants in a program — they are active stewards of one another's success, bound by the conviction that the strength of the whole becomes the inheritance of each.
OBA connects members to all available small business resources in Detroit, while fostering a living network of peer support, shared knowledge, and collective accountability. Member benefits include bi-monthly resource gatherings, free consultations that pair seasoned entrepreneurs with emerging ones, and pop-up opportunities designed to amplify the entire Osborn business ecosystem — because when one business is seen, the whole neighborhood is seen.
Through OBA's Cohort Program, members enter a circle of mutual investment — sharing workspaces, marketing support, and operational tools to reduce overhead and drive collective growth, alongside expert-led workshops that equip founders and their teams to scale with confidence and pass that knowledge forward.
In Osborn, we don't just build businesses. We build each other.

The Osborn Neighborhood Alliance's Mapleridge Housing Development is transforming three abandoned properties on Mapleridge Street into six affordable duplex units. Each home will be owner-occupied, with the landlord renting the second unit to a Section 8 tenant — creating a model that builds wealth for homeowners while expanding affordable housing options for Detroit residents in need. .
